For creatives

Get paid to make the work, not to chase it.

SOV brings you commissions, activations and public art projects from boutique hotels, residential developments, restaurants, clubs and venues that already want what you make. We coordinate the contract, insurance, approvals and payment schedule, so your time goes to the work, and to being seen for it.

Who SOV is for

If your work changes how a place feels, you belong here.

The Artist Shield

SOV is short for sovereignty. Here's what that means for you.

Your time, rights, terms and future stay yours. The business pays for this protection, not you.

BusinessYour pay, protected

Full fee and schedule shown before you say yes. Paid concepts, with materials budgeted apart.

IP protectionYour rights stay yours

License your work, never lose it. Every use is written down and paid.

NegotiationYour terms, in writing

Scope, revisions, credit and timing agreed up front. Insurance handled, contact kept private.

CareerYour future, built

Approved work on your profile, returning clients, and a community that sees all of you.

Before and after

What changes when SOV holds the deal.

Working aloneWith SOV
Pitching for free and hoping someone writes backInvited to projects that fit, with paid concept rounds
Handshake agreements and chasing invoicesWritten agreements, and payment tied to each approval
Underpricing the work and losing track of your rightsYour rate, your rights and every use spelled out
One gig at a time, then starting overA profile, returning clients and work that comes back

Fair by design, in writing. These commitments are part of every agreement, not just this website.

Read all 8 commitments
1You know your pay before you say yes.

Your fee, payment schedule, responsibilities and rights are shown before you accept. No surprise deductions.

2No pay-to-play, no free pitching.

It's free to apply and be booked. Concept rounds are paid. We never charge you to be seen.

3Your rights stay yours.

Copyright stays with you unless you sign it over in writing. Each use is licensed and paid on its own.

4Defined scope and revision rounds.

Deliverables and review rounds are agreed up front. Extra work goes through a change request, with extra pay.

5Approval and payment are tracked.

You can always see what was submitted, what was approved and when you'll be paid.

6No rankings, no bidding wars.

No public scores, no follower counts and no racing to the lowest price. You're invited because your work fits.

7People decide, not algorithms.

AI can help our team organize. It never approves, rejects or prices your work.

8Not exclusive, and fair about it.

Keep your own clients. We only ask that projects we introduce stay with SOV, for a set, reasonable period.

How it works for you

Five steps, and you choose at every one.

  1. 1Apply in about 3 minutes.
Make an account, then answer one question at a time. Add three samples: photos, or links to video and audio.
  2. 2Have a video call.
About 30 minutes on Google Meet with a working creative from our team. A conversation, not a test.
  3. 3Set your offers.
Commissions, sales, art rental, image licensing, live performance, activations and teaching. Your rates.
  4. 4Get invited.
Projects that fit your work come to you, with the budget, your fee and the rights shown up front.
  5. 5Make it, get paid.
Materials are budgeted first. Each milestone you submit is reviewed, approved and paid on the schedule you agreed to, and approved work can go on your profile.

Community

A room, not just a roster.

Making the work can be lonely. SOV is also a place to be seen by people who understand it, online and in person.

Being witnessed without needing to perform.

A space to rest, not just to produce.

Healing the isolation of the studio.

In real life
  • Critique nights. Bring a piece, share it, and get honest, kind feedback from other creatives.
  • Studio visits and site walks. Meet the people commissioning work and see the spaces before you shape an idea.
  • Gatherings. Starting in the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina, then wherever our creatives are.
Get invited to the next one

We share dates by email as they're set.

Have these ready

  • Three work samples. Photos, or links to a video, song or page.
  • A link where we can see more, like your site or Instagram.
  • A rough idea of your smallest project and how much notice you need.
  • Optional: a reference who has worked with you.

Your answers save as you go. Leave any time and pick up right where you stopped.

Questions creatives ask

I'm a musician or performer. Is this for me?

Yes. Hotels, developers and event hosts book live music, dance, poetry and performance for openings and programs. You can share video or audio links instead of photos.

I'm not in North Carolina. Can I apply?

Yes. We're testing projects in North Carolina first, but anyone can apply from anywhere. We're building toward projects across the US and internationally, and we'll match you as work opens up near you or where you're willing to travel.

Do I need my own insurance?

Not to apply. Many creatives don't carry it all year. When a project requires coverage, we coordinate it with you before work starts.

Do I need a big portfolio or a gallery history?

No. Three strong samples and a clear sense of how you work are enough to start the conversation. Garage studios welcome.

What does it cost?

Nothing. There's no fee to join and no placement fee. Businesses pay SOV's fee, and your agreed pay is shown in full before you accept.

Does joining guarantee me work?

No, and we won't pretend otherwise. Approval means you can be invited when a project fits. We bring invitations, never bidding wars, and you can always say no.

Do you use AI on my work?

Only to help our team sort and describe, never to choose or reject you. People make every decision. We never train AI on your work without your written permission, and we ask you to tell us when AI is part of your own process.

Who owns what I make?

You do. A client buys the piece or a license to use it, and every use is written into the agreement. Anything beyond that, like merch or ads, is a separate license and a separate payment.

Can I still work with my own clients?

Yes. SOV isn't exclusive. Keep working with the people you already know.

Who sees my information?

Only you and our review team, until you're approved and say yes to a public profile. We never sell your information.
